Who wants to eat the chemical-preservative laden store-bought dip, when you can make this homemade sour cream & onion dip at home…considering how easy it is. Every time I make this dip it gets eaten up the same day…within hours of making it actually. We eat it with anything from homemade potato chips to raw veggies, such as carrot or celery sticks.

These pickles are slightly sweet with just a hint of spicy-ness. They taste similar to a bread and butter style pickle, but with the added benefits of lacto-fermentation. The bad thing about these tasty pickles are that they never seem to last in my house… they get eaten up so quickly. I just may have to lock the kids out of the refrigerator so that I get to eat more than just a few slices of these
(Well, at least I know these pickles are so good for them… so really it’s a good thing that they enjoy them so much.)
Homemade Yogurt “The Easy Way”

Yogurt is a super-nutritious food, full of beneficial bacteria (Probiotics). Especially “homemade” yogurt, as most store-bought yogurts contain some sort of additives and/or thickeners-stabilizers.
We use yogurt a lot around here for making smoothies, eating plain (or with fruit) for a snack or great breakfast, and in the summer we make creamy yogurt popsicles. There are [...]

We all love pickles here in our family. So much so that I planted multiple pickling cucumber bushes this year, and will definitely be making many jars of these lacto-fermented pickles. Lacto-fermentation is the natural-traditional process of “pickling” foods that creates the good for you bacteria, Probiotics, the ones that are so vital for overall good health. Did you know 80% of Your Immune System is in Your GI Tract? Eating some cultured “lacto-fermented” condiment everyday helps boost healthy gut flora.
Grandma’s Creamed Cucumbers (CGW Style)

My grandmother would make these wonderful “creamed” cucumbers during the hot summer months…and they were always cool and refreshing. Her recipe called for a lot of refined sugar, so I’ve taken it and updated it in CGW (Cooking God’s Way) style. It’s still absolutely yummy and refreshing on a hot day, but uses natural sweeteners and less sweetener over-all. So it is definitely a healthier version with a slightly sweet, still tangy and refreshingly cool taste.
Creamy “Homemade” Buttermilk Ranch Dressing *

Homemade dressings are always so much better. They taste better AND they are a much healthier option. This homemade creamy ranch dressing is no exception. Adjust the spices/seasonings to suit your taste. For a zestier/semi-spicy dressing, I sometimes add a little ground cayenne pepper to the dressing. This dressing can also double as a dip for fresh veggies.
