Who wants to eat the chemical-preservative laden store-bought dip, when you can make this homemade sour cream & onion dip at home…considering how easy it is. Every time I make this dip it gets eaten up the same day…within hours of making it actually. We eat it with anything from homemade potato chips to raw veggies, such as carrot or celery sticks.
Lacto-fermented “Sweet & Spicy” Pickles

These pickles are slightly sweet with just a hint of spicy-ness. They taste similar to a bread and butter style pickle, but with the added benefits of lacto-fermentation. The bad thing about these tasty pickles are that they never seem to last in my house… they get eaten up so quickly. I just may have to lock the kids out of the refrigerator so that I get to eat more than just a few slices of these
(Well, at least I know these pickles are so good for them… so really it’s a good thing that they enjoy them so much.)

Use this handy spice mix where-ever a recipes calls for “pickling spice”. I like to use it a lot in my lacto-fermenting….especially pickles, whether they be the sweet or dilly kind.

This really is a great tasting potato salad, and you can adjust the spicy-ness by the kind (heat level) of salsa you use. Simply use a mild salsa for a milder version, or kick up the heat with a hotter salsa….it’s your choice.
