Sourdough Starter: The Easy Way to Make Your Own

I have been dabbling lately in the art of sourdough :) , mostly for health reasons (to get away from commercial yeast) and not to mention taste reasons….sourdough tastes so much better than regular yeast bread.

Many tend to think of sourdough as that typically very sour bread that you might find in the bakery at your local warehouse club or super-market. But, that is not the case….sourdough need not be sour. I have made coffee cakes, banana bread, and even a chocolate cake with it and they all turned out wonderfully moist and delicious…not sour at all.

There are a number of ways to obtain your own sourdough starter. You may get one from a friend, buy one, or try to catch one yourself. I chose to attempt the latter……and actually succeeded. The video below shows the method I used that worked for me on the first try. Hopefully you will have success with it also.

As I experiment more with sourdough I will post the recipes here, on Cooking God’s Way. For more information on sourdough and other recipes check out the following sources.
