Who wants to eat the chemical-preservative laden store-bought dip, when you can make this homemade sour cream & onion dip at home…considering how easy it is. Every time I make this dip it gets eaten up the same day…within hours of making it actually. We eat it with anything from homemade potato chips to raw veggies, such as carrot or celery sticks.
Lacto-fermented “Sweet & Spicy” Pickles

These pickles are slightly sweet with just a hint of spicy-ness. They taste similar to a bread and butter style pickle, but with the added benefits of lacto-fermentation. The bad thing about these tasty pickles are that they never seem to last in my house… they get eaten up so quickly. I just may have to lock the kids out of the refrigerator so that I get to eat more than just a few slices of these
(Well, at least I know these pickles are so good for them… so really it’s a good thing that they enjoy them so much.)

These little cocoa-peanut butter bites are a great snack. Stored in the freezer, you can grab one anytime you feel like it. And the great thing is that they are naturally sweet, with no added sugar or sweeteners. For a special touch, roll them in finely shredded unsweetened coconut before freezing.

Beef jerky makes a great snack and is a good source of protein. The only problem is just about all of the jerky you’ll find in stores are made with nasty ingredients and low quality meat. This beef jerky is a cinch to make at home with a jerky gun and a food dehydrator….both of which are fairly in-expensive and are a great investment. You can adjust the seasonings in this jerky easily to fit your tastes at the time.
Cocoa-Coated Almonds *

Long ago I used to love the Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds, but cannot eat them anymore as they are not soaked and they contain Splenda (sucralose). I experimented a little and came up with this recipe that uses raw almonds (that are soaked & dried) and stevia powder to sweeten. So they are healing diet approved, meaning you can have them even if you are on a sugar restricted diet (which most of us should try to avoid sugar anyway). These cocoa almonds are so delicious and good for you and make an excellent snack, or addition to homemade trail mix.
